“Robi Calling,” the long awaited newly recorded music by multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner, “Sistah Robi,” is pure, sublime, Robi Kahakalau. Among Hawaii’s most versatile entertainers, Robi's sweet soulful vocals and luscious harmonies have been her much loved signature sound since she first stepped on stage as the lead female vocalist with the Hawaiian Style Band. The incredible success of the band paved the way for her three highly acclaimed solo albums, "Sistah Robi," "Keiki o ka Aina," and "All I Want.” Robi once again included a taste of her favorite musical styles in "Robi Calling" – Hawaiian, Island Contemporary, Reggae, Tahitian, Rock and Jazz, for her fans to feast upon. Highlights include a youthful take on the Makaha Sons of Ni’ihau’s beautiful “Ke’ala,” to which Robi added a light reggae groove, “Nâ Moku ‘Ehâ/Ka Lei Ç” which blends two traditional Hawaiian songs, and the timeless Motown classic, “Cruisin’,” presented as a velvety duet. Along with a talented array of hand-picked musicians, such as the award winning vocalist/ guitarist Jeff Rasmussen, ukulele master and former Ka’au Crater Boy Troy Fernandez, and Tahiti’s world class ukulele/guitarist Florent Atem, Robi has successfully created another solid collection of favorites with her 4th solo release, "Robi Calling."
